Bulli, New South Wales — Anticipation is building as Bulli Beach prepares to host round two of the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf Series scheduled for the 18th and 19th of November 2023 in partnership with the Sydney Water Surf Series. The event is in collaboration with Surf Life Saving Illawarra Branch and Destination Wollongong who welcome the event to their shores.
“Destination Wollongong is proud to be supporting the 2nd stop of the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf Series in Bulli with the event showcasing the beauty and beach culture that defines our coastal city. We are privileged to share Bulli’s incredible beach and sense of community with participants and attendees,” enthused Mark Sleigh, General Manager of Destination Wollongong.
The 2nd Summer of Surf edition for the summer will guarantee a weekend of high-energy competition as more than 1,000 participants in the Syndey Water event from across the country converge at Bulli Beach as athletes hope to reap the rewards of Summer of Surf Series points in the early part of the season.
“Since 2002 the Sydney Water Surf Series has been giving lifesavers from Wollongong and the South Coast the opportunity to compete against some of the nation’s best on their home beaches. We now look forward to collaborating with the Summer of Surf for this round and provide an elevated racing experience for our athletes including an event broadcast to a nationwide audience to watch the racing go down at one of our regions iconic beaches.” commented Sydney Water Surf Series representative Michael Jennett.
Local Ironman Beau Wheeler aka ‘The Bulli Bullet’ welcomes an event at his home club.
“Having grown up and racing for Bulli Surf Club for the majority of my life, it is so great to see the Summer of Surf joining forces with the Sydney Water Surf Series running an event at my home beach. A lot of the bigger events are run further North so to have one in our backyard is really special. I hope everyone enjoys their time in Wollongong.”

The pinnacle of the weekend will see the famed finals package streamed on 7plus, offering a ringside seat to all the action for surf sport enthusiasts across the nation as the Summer of Surf gets to showcase the incredible Wollongong region.
