Cooper Wiliams and Lana Rogers have stormed home to take out the Open Ironman and Open Ironwoman honors at the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf Manly Surf Open!

The Alex Headland Ironman went head-to-head with eventual runner up, Northcliffe’s Joe Collins before edging away in the final board leg to secure himself, his first win of the summer!

“It’s been an emotional weekend for the Williams family, so to be standing here on top of the podium today, it means the world!” He said.

Having had a quiet start to the season, William’s was simply thrilled to be back in the winner’s seat!

“It’s been a rough start to the season so to finally get a win, here at the Manly Surf Open, I am stoked!”

In the women’s event, Northcliffe’s Rogers charged up the beach ahead of Burleigh Head’s Mowbray Park’s Brielle Cooper, with clubmate Lily O’Sullivan taking home third.

Northcliffe’s Auden Parish went back-to-back in the men’s board race!
In a tight battle alongside Alex Headland’s Brayden Casamento, Parish pushed for the final moments to count, securing himself another win and another 10,000 points. Clubmate Zach Morris took third.

The women’s event saw Maroochydore’s Zoe Longhurst claim the biggest win of her career ahead of North Curl Curl’s Ashleigh Windsham and O’Sullivan.

The men’s ski final saw Burleigh Head’s Mowbray Parks Ben Carberry proving too quick up the beach for Kurrawa’s Tanyn Lyndon, while Manly’s Oscar Jones rounded out the podium.

Taking out her first race for the summer, Newport’s Jemma Smith blew the field away in the women’s ski with clubmate, Jasmine Locke securing second place ahead of Noosa Head’s Jordan Mercer.

Although almost unheard of, a draw took place in the men’s swim final with Redheads Daniel Collins and Northcliffe’s Zach Morris sharing the top of the podium. Northcliffe’s Matthew Lowe took third.

The ocean played havoc in the women’s swim event with the lead changing throughout due to challenging surf conditions! Cooper’s skills proved too strong for the rest of the field with Rogers and Burleigh Head’s Mowbray Park’s young gun Bianca Rayward taking home the minor placings.

In the final event of the day, Burleigh Head’s Mowbray Park claimed their first victory in the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf 6-person mixed Taplin! In a tough battle against Newport and BMD Northcliffe, the Burleigh Head’s Mowbray Park board anchor, Corey Fletcher, powered home in the final leg to secure the club a phenomenal victory!

Adding to the excitement, Manly beach saw the Manly Sea Eagles and our surf sports Race One athletes attend a meet and greet for fans, before Redbull Air Racer, Matt Hall, stopped the promenade with an air show exhibition just metres from the sand!

An incredible day on the beach, an enormous thank you to all our sponsors, Shaw and Partners Financial Services, Race One Surf Craft, 7plus, Manly Surf Lifesaving Club, The Lap Co, We Are Feel Good Inc, the Wharf Bar, Bettys Burgers, GJ Gardner Homes, Gentari and Skoda.
